Wee People Preschool, founded in 1963, is dedicated to meeting the needs of children and their parents. Daily activities will promote children’s growth and development, enabling them to become healthy, intelligent, contributing members of society. The development of a positive self-image is at the core of our program. Wee People Preschool provides an affordable early learning program that allows students to enjoy the pleasure of being children while preparing them for school. Every child possesses his or her own special abilities and Wee People teachers will strive to develop these abilities. The staff has the responsibility to each and every Wee People parent to make the most out of the child’s early learning experiences. Wee People Preschool will provide a positive
and stimulating introduction to education in a caring environment.
HISTORY Wee People Preschool was founded in 1963 by former Huron resident and Christ Church member, Dee Brown. The school was established to fill a community need while taking advantage of the new education wing, recently added to historic Christ Church . In 1992 the privately owned school was sold to Saundra Dolbeer who had been a teacher at the school since 1973, and who was also a member of Christ Church . Under her ownership and direction, Wee People celebrated its 44th year of operation in September of 2007, making it the oldest continuously operating preschool in Huron. After teaching at Wee People for 34 years, and
owner for the past 16, Saundra made a gift transfer of the school to the
Christ Church Anglican Fellowship Foundation (C.C.A.F.F.) on December 21,
2007. Wee People has provided a positive, stimulating introduction to education
in a caring environment of Christian values to three generations of children
in the community. The new leadership looks forward to continuing this important
tradition while upgrading the curriculum to meet the expectations of kindergarten
teachers.
